MMS Fees & Subpart B Final Rule Delayed
Published on September 26, 2005

MMS Fees Delayed

MMS is delaying until January 1, 2006, the effective date of the August 25, 2005 rule that implemented fees to offset MMS's costs of providing certain services related to its mineral programs.

This delay is necessary because of damage caused in the New Orleans area by Hurricane Katrina and subsequent flooding. The delay will provide relief to the government and the oil and gas industry as they recover from this disaster.

Subpart B Final Rule Delayed

MMS will delay the effective date of Subpart B Final Rule to January 1, 2006. MMS will be publishing a Federal Register "final rule" to announce this decision. MMS will also post the associated "draft" NTL on their website and publish the final NTL prior to January 1, 2006.
